The hip-hop hysteria on MTV‘s TRL continues, as A$AP Ferg took the stage for a high-energy full performance of “Plain Jane.” Rocking his signature remake of Three-6 Mafia‘s “Slob on My Knob,” a track presumably older than anyone seen watching him in the TRL audience, Ferb mobs hard with his native New York charisma on full display.

It’s a unique performance in that, for one thing, it’s fairly minimalist. A$AP Mob live performances are known for the whole crew mobilizing and high production values, where as this is Ferg, two turntables and a microphone. Where it’s attention-grabbing in particular is Ferg performs the entire song, a much different approach than Mob’s recent tour that would usual perform just a track’s hook and a single verse.

TRL really seems be trying to tap into New York hip-hop culture. The episode with Ferg also saw host DC Young Fly attempt to rap battle New York rapper Lex Rush, and get absolutely roasted for his troubles. For further A$AP Mob fun, check out leader A$AP Rocky‘s revealing GQ interview.
