Underground veteran wordsmith Aesop Rock typically goes quite a while without releasing solo music, which is why it was such a surprise to be blessed with his surprise new video “Hot Dogs.” His first single since 2016’s The Impossible Kid, the Rhymesayers renaissance man is reemerging for a noble cause.

Directed by Kurt Hayashi, “Hot Dogs” features skateboarder Jake Gascoyne grinding on the way to grab a late night snack. Aes’ rhymes reflect the stream-of-conscious thoughts during Gascoyne’s voyage as Aes makes a handful of cameos as the clip’s supporting cast.

All of the proceeds from the digital sale of “Hot Dogs,” as well as the forthcoming limited edition 7″, will benefit Grind For Life, an organization founded by skateboarder and sarcoma cancer survivor Mike Rogers. Grind for Life provides financial assistance to cancer patients and their families forced to travel long distances for treatment. The 7″ can be seen here and pre-ordered from Fifth Element.

– It appears Lil Uzi Vert has at least one living friend now, as Nicki Minaj hops on the remix of “The Way Life Goes.”

– Another surprise collaboration blesses us this week as Big Sean, Metro Boomin and 21 Savage join forces for “Pull Up N Wreck.”

– A year after the single release, De La Soul have rolled up with a video for “Royalty Capes.”

– The Queen is back as Lil Kim has a new video as well.

– New music Friday brings us new projects from Problem, Skeme, Keak da Sneak and Ro Spit & 14KT.
