This post about Lil Wayne will have exactly one reference to drama with Birdman. And you have just experienced it.

Ahead of Weezy’s headlining show at Target Center this weekend, we’d rather focus on his many recent projects showing his creativity, business acumen, sports fandom, and live prowess.

Here are 5 things on Lil Wayne’s agenda in 2017.

“Location” remix

El Paso’s breakout star Khalid recently linked with both Weezy and Kehlani to create a remix to his viral hit. Lil Wayne brought his traditional flavor, including the spark of a lighter and clever lines like “let the rose petals spread like rosacea.”

The feature serves as a perfect reintroduction to the original track about Khalid wanting to finally meet with the girl he’s been chasing.

South Carolina support

Lil Wayne recently tweeted his support for the women’s South Carolina basketball team as they enter the Final Four tournament this weekend. In it he shouts out the Gamecock’s head coach Dawn Staley and compares her to his own mother.

Young Money Radio

Lil Wayne also took advantage of his Twitter audience of nearly 30 million followers to make another announcement this week. In his tweet, the rapper revealed his partnership with Dash Radio to launch Young Money Radio, a digital space to promote new music from the label.

Hoodybaby mixtape

In the first episode of Young Money Radio, the Dallas-based, Young Money signee HoodyBaby premiered his latest project. Coincidentally, Kitchen 24: Slangin Off Keyincludes a feature from Weezy on the auto-tune induced banger called “First Class.” HoodyBaby’s mixtape also includes collaborative tracks with Quavo, Tyga, Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa and Kevin Gates.

SXSW performance

Earlier this month, Lil Tunechi performed a headlining show at SXSW. Rolling Stone reported that his hour-long set was energetic and full of hits. He rocked the crowd with classics like “A Milli” and “Lollipop” and also played bits of recent tracks he’s been featured on, including Chance’s “No Problem” and Nicki Minaj’s “No Frauds.”

Local fans can only hope for a similar experience and just as charismatic Weezy, as he takes over the Target Center on Friday.
