Thanksgiving weekend officially wrapped-up with BET airing the 2016 Soul Train Awards. While they were filmed a few weeks prior, fans were surprisingly mum about the event, which saw Beyoncé win album/song/video of the year and Chance the Rapper take home Best New Artist honors.

But the biggest story has to be the performances. The spirit of Don Cornelius was clearly in the house as fans were treated to a bevy of showcased modern artists alongside fun throwbacks, including Brandy winning the Lady of Soul award and Teddy Riley being honored with the Legend Award.

Dru Hill brought us right back to middle-school dances.

Erykah Badu reminded us why there’s only one of her.

Everyone from Guy to Wreckx-N-Effect came out for Teddy.

Oh, hi DRAM!

Yes, it’s 2016 and that’s Brandy and Ma$e doing “Top of the World.”
