All month long, Go 96.3’s Go Local Battle of the Bands has pitted some of the best bands in the Twin Cities against one another for a change to open up the show at GoFest ’18, presented by Audi Minneapolis, Audi St. Paul, National Camera Exchange, and Firefly Credit Union!
After an incredible night at St. Paul’s Amsterdam Bar and Hall for our Go Local Battle of the Bands, we tallied your votes, combined them with our judges’ expert rulings, and determined our winner: Yam Haus!
The groovy indie-pop quartet were a huge hit with our Battle of the Bands audience and judges, and thanks to your support, they’ll be kicking off the show at GoFest ’18!
Congrats to our other finalists Last Import, Version 5, and The Millenium for playing awesome sets and for making our Battle of the Bands such an exciting evening of local talent. Keep an eye out for their names on future Go Shows to come!
Forming after years of making music in the Midwest, the group’s love for punchy pop, old-school rock and roll, sensitive folk, and the beat of hip-hop brought their debut album “Stargazer” to a unique sound with relatable lyrics and a sincere heartbeat. With elements of synth pop, bubble guitars, and catchy vocals the group’s top priority is to give permission to the audience to have fun.
“It’s fun and carefree. It’s our job to provide people who work everyday jobs, or who are swamped with homework and life with an opportunity to let go and smile, maybe for the first time in a long time. We don’t take that lightly”.
