I’m a GoFest OG. Been to every single one. From the first one at Target Field to the second installment at First Avenue and our first and second extravaganzas at Cabooze. Each year, it gets bigger and better than the year before. This year will surpass them all, no doubt, with Catfish and the Bottlemen, X Ambassadors, Allan Raymon and Wild Belle! Get your tickets here and come hangout with us!
The inaugural. Go 96.3 was a brand new station in the Twin Cities playing a type of music that the city had been missing and yearning for for a long time. The lineup was stacked with Cold War Kids, Yelawolf, local Grammy nominee Alan Kingdom, Matt and Kim, plus so many more! To be able to walk on the grass of Target Field and look up at the packed stands was exhilarating. I’ll admit, as the newest person on the staff I was a bit too well-behaved but that was definitely about to change.
The followup. The 2nd year of GoFest moved inside to the historic First Avenue. By the end of the night, our intern had been kicked out and I accomplished my lifelong dream of stage diving. Pretty sure I still have bruises on my shins from not making the most athletic jump over the crowd barrier. Thank you to everyone who carried my heavy body all the way back to the soundboard before letting me down gently. Miike Snow and Robert DeLong were amazing. In fact, Robert’s generosity back stage was a key reason why Intern Anna was asked to leave.
Go Fest ’17
We missed the sunshine at Go Fest ’17. In Minnesota, we only have nine nice days a year and we wanted to capitalize. While there wouldn’t be any jumping off the stage this time around, the VIP booth with free pizza and beer had my heart in a sling. I’d also met my wife Karin, and when Jack Antonoff of Bleachers asked us to put our partners on our shoulders, it made for one the best pictures I posted of living the best life, and a great memory that still hangs on my wall to this very day.
Go Fest ’18
Back to the Cabooze on what may have been the hottest day in Minnesota history. I’m a massive fan of the sun and soaked it all in while throwing out free slices of pizza from the stage and having a water gun fight backstage with our little friend Gavin and a couple of the bands on the bill. We also met two local guys that started a company called Revitalyte and it’s been a hangover cure ever since. I’m running out of room on this page but I can’t forget to mention that we had a surprise act, American Authors, show up and jam on stage. That’s the best part about working at Go 96.3… You never know what kind of crazy stuff we have in store for you!
Go Fest ’19
The 5th year for Go Fest!? Let’s go! This time, we’ve added VIP air conditioning inside Whiskey Junction with FREE Food from Agra-Culture and SotaRol, Beer from my favorites at Summit Brewing Company and a bunch of other things you’re going to love!
Let’s make some memories we won’t ever forget! We can’t do this without you.
Thanks for supporting our shows, our station and the crazy ideas we come up with!
