Bobby Raps dropped a dark, self-produced track called “Desensitized” Thursday night on Soundcloud and it already has over 30,000 plays.
The St. Paul-bred artist, who has worked with the Weeknd and helped create last year’s viral Watch the Stove mixtape, finally introduced his new song via Twitter after teasing new music nearly four months ago.
Throughout the moody trap song Bobby raps, “The streets taught me what not to do.” And in the chorus he opens up by saying, “All of my feelings intensified/had no choice but to desensitize/ hard for me to sympathize.”
The track could very well be a single off of Bobby’s upcoming project as he uses “#mark” in his Twitter announcement of the song and the song description on SoundCloud reads “#mark dropping soon.”
Raps dropped hints about the mixtape last fall before playing at Zombie Pub Crawl, where he dedicated his performance to his late friend and Twin Cities music promoter Mark Fogarty.
In addition to hitting the ZPC stage, Bobby showed his range and growth in several other endeavors last year. He kicked off the year with a feature on Key!’s catchy track “Say No Mo,” and co-wrote and produced “Sidewalks” off the Weeknd’s latest album, Starboy, just to name a few.
