One of rock legend David Bowie‘s most iconic hits “Space Oddity” is getting a special re-release to coordinate with both the 50th anniversary of hitting store shelves and the 1969 moon landing!

Today’s 50th anniversary of “Space Oddity’s” release means blast off for the “Space Oddity x Unlock The Moon Experience.” The website utilizes the latest in cutting edge technology, allowing fans who properly align the phone’s camera with the moon to unlock the new 2019 Tony Visconti mix of “Space Oddity” a day before its official release!

Tomorrow the website will also offer the special limited edition double-7″ release of the “Space Oddity” single, the next flight in an inter-stellar campaign culminating in brand new Bowie concert footage premiering as part of Apollo 11: A 50th Anniversary Celebration – One Small Step, One Giant Leap, a 1969 moon landing tribute from NASA and the National Symphony Orchestra, Saturday, July 20 at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall.

Given Bowie was always ahead of the curve in life when it came to technology, including releasing his own internet service in the late-90s, it’s no surprise that he’s still blazing trails three years after his death.
