Everyone loves surprises, and when that surprise is laced with diss records out the wazoo, the public can’t get enough! So is the case with Eminem‘s new album Kamikaze, debuting at #1 on Billboard.
An album that nobody knew what was coming, Kamikaze overall moved 434,400 units, over 267,000 more than his last album Revival – whose poor reception hurt Eminem’s feelings and perhaps contributed to Kamikaze‘s blistering sound.
Let’s analyze those numbers for a second. Revival had a two month mass media roll-out, a lead single featuring Beyoncé – the biggest entertainer on the planet – and both a successful viral campaign as well as a slate of television performances. Yet, the album that nobody knew was coming – Kamikaze – off the sheer buzz of Em’s performance, almost doubled its first week.
Does this mean “The Real Slim Shady” had finally stood up?
