Each weekday in February, Go 95.3 looks back at an important figure in black history.

Today we feature George Clinton the foremost forefather of funk for over 50 years! Whether overseeing Parliament-Funkadelic, The P-Funk All Stars or his solo career, Clinton has been an absolute force of innovation, fashion and funk. Immortal tracks like “Atomic Dog” and “Knee Deep” didn’t just change the course of R&B and rock, but became forever intertwined with hip-hop following the heavy utilization of his work in the G-Funk wave of the 90s. Clinton, who turns 78 in 2019, is about to embark on his worldwide retirement and will be acknowledged with a lifetime achievement award at this year’s Grammys.
