Go 96.3 is excited to host two awesome bands this Friday at First Avenue for our next Go Show. In addition to quirky indie-pop collective Superorganism, The Modern Alternative Channel is bringing folk-pop duo Flora Cash to the Twin Cities!

  • Flora Cash are a duo, comprised of vocalist/guitarist/producer Cole Randall and vocalist Shpresa Lleshaj.
  • Cole Randall is a Minnesota native who grew up in Park Rapids.
  • Shpresa Lleshaj is a native of Stockholm, Sweden.
  • Randall began producing music and uploading it to Soundcloud, and that’s where Lleshaj discovered his talents. She began to leave supportive comments on his new tracks, and the two became friends via increasingly long social media messages.
  • Eventually, those letters turned into marathon Skype sessions, where the two bonded and created music together.
  • The creative chemistry convinced Lleshaj to book a plane flight to Minneapolis and spend the summer working on songs together. This resulted in the first ever Flora Cash song, “Summerset.”
  • That summer also saw Lleshaj and Randall’s creative partnership blossom into a romantic one (awwwww!) and Randall decided to follow Lleshaj back to Sweden.
  • Not long after, the duo married (double AWWW!) and released their debut EP Can Summer Last Forever? and followed that up with their debut album Nothing Lasts Forever (And It’s Fine) last year.
  • Flora Cash tends to favor introspective ballads about anxiety, doubt, and tough emotions. According to Lleshaj, they think of their songwriting process as a form of self-therapy.
  • After recently signing a deal with RCA Records, the couple seems poised for their next big break.
  • According to Randall, Flora Cash have never revealed the meaning of their name. I personally think it sounds kind of like a Soundcloud rapper’s alias, especially if you spelled it like this: F L Ø R A  C A $ H
