The latest addition to our happy little Go 96.3 family is our afternoon-show DJ Reed, who left his native home of Detroit to move to the Twin Cities in February. Now that he’s all unpacked, Reed is starting to explore his new home city, and all of the exciting activities we have to offer.

Last week I ventured out and tried something I’ve heard of, but never done before…WhirlyBall! If you’ve never heard of whirlyball before, let me break it down for you, because it’s brilliant formula: You start with Beer + bumper cars, then mix that in with a combination of lacrosse and basketball…and there you have whirlyball. Sounds pretty great right? IT IS!

Here’s the thing: It was actually a lot more challenging than I thought. Once I figured out how to steer the bumper car, it was still basically chaos, but in a great way.

You’ve got two teams of five players, possibly a few beers deep each, driving little bumper cars around fighting over after a little whiffle ball. If you can picture a soccer game of 10 year olds, where they all just swarm and chase the ball around, that’s pretty much what it looks like.

Whirlyball is THE BEST! 🙌🏼

I didn’t even try to have a strategy, I was basically a rogue madman behind the wheel. But don’t be fooled, it’s insanely fun and entertaining. I HIGHLY recommend a game of whirly ball in your life!

Catch Reed on Go 96.3 every weekday from 3pm to 7pm, and follow him on social media @ItsReedYo.
