It’s important we disclose to you the reason we wrote this story is because it is, first and foremost, about a Minnesota resident.
That resident being Sisqo, the virtuoso rapper/singer who achieved fame in the late ’90s predominantly for his emotional ode to the female form, “Thong Song.”
A couple years back we reported the artist had made a somewhat unexpected move to Maple Grove.
He followed his girlfriend and mother of his children, Elizabeth Pham, to the Twin Cities suburb where she has family and where he’s living la vida loca.
But that was two years ago. Today we’re talking about Sisqo because he’s done something amazing – released a new version of “Thong Song.”
He teamed up with Norwegian producers JCY for the modernized version of his 1999 classic, which you can watch below. (Caution: Do not watch if you’re offended by butts.)
The result actually sounds pretty darn modern, with Buzzfeed saying it feels “VERY 2017.”
The singer told Buzzfeed he’d been asked “so many times over the years to make a new version,” but he said no – until he heard JCY’s update.
“I thought it was dope and figured maybe it was time to put some new rims on the Bugatti,” he said.
See what you think of the new version above, and compare it to the original below – because you can never have too much “Thong Song.”
