There is nothing better than Minnesota in the summer and we bet the #GoFam is as excited for summer as we are! We decided to put together list for you to share some of our favorite spots and activities to enjoy in the summer!

  • Go mini golfing at the Walker, Big Stone Mini Golf and Sculpture Park [Zeke]
  • Take a drive to Jordan and visit the world’s largest candy store [Zeke]
  • Enjoy the wave pool a Bunker Beach [Zeke]
  • Get an ice cream cone at Minnehaha Falls [Zeke]
  • Go alpine sliding at Wild Mountain (beware you can get hurt but it’s a lot of fun) [Zeke]
  • Check out a winery… Chankaska is great, bonus — they have great firewood pizza [Zeke]
  • Go tubing (Apple River is top of the list, even if it isn’t in MN) [Zeke]
  • Play a pick-up game of kick ball.
  • Take a ride on the bike trails.
  • Find someone with a boat and party on Big Island [Zeke]
  • DJ D-Mil boat parties are always great fun in the summer. [Zeke]
  • Brunch or drinks on rooftops so many great spots in the cities… I recommend Moto-I, one of the best, hidden spots in the Cities where you can enjoy one of the only spots outside of Japan that makes Saki. [Zeke]
  • Go see a drive-in movie. (pro-tip: make sure you turn on your car every once and a while. Fun story — I once had my alternator go out on me when I was at a drive-in but always a great time) [Zeke]
  • Walk my dog, Bubba in the Sculpture Garden [Christy]
  • Get Ice Cream at Izzy’s [Christy]
  • Go for a run outside [Christy]
  • Go Up North and rent (or buy) a cabin [Christy]
  • Backyard bonfires and patio parties – the best part of summer [Christy]
  • Enjoy a little extra time outside and walk or bike to work! [Christy]
  • Motorcycle rides around Lake Johanna [Ben]
  • Bonfires in the Backyard [Ben]
  • Air conditioning [Ben, and everyone]
  • Trying one of the many local food trucks [Ben]
  • Check out all the best beer Minnesota has to offer at the Summer Beer Dabbler [Ben]
  • Spending the weekend camping [Ben]
  • NOT to jump in a lake (because it’s scary) [typical Ben] 
  • Take a pontoon to a Zorbaz and don’t go home until long after the sun goes down. [Dana]
  • Ambush some unsuspecting friends with water balloons, because who doesn’t love a good water fight [Dana]
  • Keep a bottle of Pam in your car so you can grease the hood of your car up so you can do Marty McFly hood-slides whenever you want. [Dana]
  • Spend an entire weekend where every meal you eat is cooked on a grill. [Dana]
  • Go see a double or triple feature in the air conditioning at the West End movie theater on one of the days that’s unbearably hot. [Dana]
  • Ditch your car and Ubers for an entire week and just take Lime Scooters or Nice Ride Bikes everywhere. [Dana and Auggie]
  • Watch the US play in the Women’s World Cup up on the lawn at Brits Pub. [Dana]
  • Skip work one day and head to Cascade Bay in Eagan and have the lazy river be your office for the day. [Dana]
  • Set up a free lemonade stand. Give out lemonade and popsicles to all the kids in the neighborhood. Maybe have the ingredients for gin and tonics ready for their parents too. [Dana]
  • Sleep in a hammock. No, not just a nap. Sleep in a hammock overnight after a successful summer Saturday.  [Dana]

  • Not walking through/driving in/shoveling snow and definitely NOT slipping on black ice and spraining your ankle [Reed]
  • Heading to the cabin to spend time with family and being able to do outdoor activities like water ski, kayak and tubing. [Intern Jane]
  • Going to see your favorite concerts (perhaps, like Last Import?) [Intern Jane]
  • Enjoy life, food, and drinks on the Psycho Suzi’s patio [Jordan and Chaz]
  • Pop up shops around the city – a lot of local clothing brand + retailers have pop ups at breweries. [Jordan]
  • Learn how to make a cocktail! Make it for your friends and have a game night while doing so. [Jordan]
  • DRINK TALK LEARN PARTIES! Each person makes a three minute slideshow on whatever they want. It’s like school, but fun. [Jordan]
  • Listen to the Night Show with Jordan on Go 96.3 OUTDOORS! [Jordan]
  • Walk around Canal Park in Duluth. Buy some antiques and candy. [Jordan] Also, check out the Lighthouse, too [Zeke]
  • Turn your phone off for a weekend and rent a cabin with your friends. [Jordan]
  • Check out one of the local, specialty coffee shop (there’s so many cute and good ones, check out this list for some ideas) [Intern Sam]

  • Walk around Loring Park with my dog. It’s gorgeous! (And she has a love/hate relationship with squirrels) [Auggie]
  • Catching a baseball game is always a good time. Nothing beats a Twins games on a sunny afternoon but this season I’m making sure I check out the St. Paul Saints. [Auggie]
  • I like growing plants, and I really can only do that outdoors in the summer. I grew jalapeños one summer and made some hot sauce out of it. Came out pretty good for my first time. [Auggie]
  • You can’t do summer in Minnesota without going to a lake. Jet-skiing, kayaking, or just getting on a pontoon with friends is a must. Bde Maka Ska is a great spot in the city to do lake things. [Auggie]
  • Going to Stone Arch Bridge and people-watching — so many people; especially on the Fourth of July! [Auggie and Twin City Tone]
  • The Ferris Wheel at Betty Danger’s [Chaz]
  • Check out the new restaurants that just opened up at Rosedale [Chaz]
  • The polka and German food at Gasthof Zur Gemutlichkeit [Chaz]

  • After-concert wings at Maruso’s (open late downtown to perfectly wrap up whatever other plans one may have) [Chaz]
  • Enjoying the fried food at local church Fun Fests that seem to happen every weekend [Chaz]
  • The multiple comic conventions that are all happening on August 10 (Nerdinout Con, Afreakcon) [Chaz]
  • Sampling Rybicki cheeses and going to the House of Comedy at Mall of America [Chaz]
  • Have a Lightrail adventure (make plans somewhere the light rail doesn’t directly go to, and the take the Lightrail to the closest stop and walk from there) [Chaz]
  • Appreciating the friendly staff, delicious food and engaging people watching at the Washington Ave. Taco Bell [Chaz]
  • The Famous Boat Party w/ the GO DJS at Padelford River Boats [DJ D-Mil]
  • Head out to Lord Fletcher’s on Lake Minnetonka (Like on July 3rd w/ Mr Peter Parker & DJ D-Mil or on August 24th for the FREE Suburbs show)
  • Pack a picnic backpack and go hiking
  • Go local for groceries — hit your local farmer’s market for some fresh produce
  • Spend a day in beautiful and historic Excelsior, MN around the lake and at the local bars
  • Disc Golf at any of the 222 courses in our great state
  • One of the many parades in the surrounding areas!
  • Grab your friends and hit the links at TopGolf
  • Hit one of the local zoos — Minnesota Zoo or Como Zoo are close by!
  • Hang out with the Go 95.3 crew at Go UP Thursdays at Pourhouse in Uptown
  • From the food, activities, music and all your favorite Go Radio personalities … at the MINNESOTA STATE FAIR [everyone!]
