Something Strange this way comes, as Kansas City’s finest, Tech N9ne, unveils his brand new single and video “Don’t Nobody Want None.” While longtime hip-hop fans may recognize that the production lifts heavy elements from Hashim‘s 1983 breakdance battle classic “The Soul,” Tech’s vast array of flows and styles is still decades ahead of the curve, making this something of a cutting-edge throwback.
In true Tech tradition, he makes as much of a statement with the visuals as he does with the track. Given the source’s roots in the classic pop-and-lock showdowns of yesteryear, “Don’t Nobody Want None” boasts more breakin’ than any rap video we’ve seen in years.
“Don’t Nobody Want None” can be found on Tech’s forthcoming new album Planet, due out March 2. The new LP, Tech’s 12th, is set to feature Mackenzie Nicole, Krizz Kaliko, Darrien Safron and Joey Cool. Tech’s going to be celebrating the release with his Planet Tour 2018, which comes to The Armory on April 21.
