These bloody shoes were made for walking onto network television as Cardi B made her solo debut on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! performing her hit “Bodak Yellow.” With Kimmel in New York for a week, Cardi had hometown advantage as, backed only by a DJ and a bevy of backup dancers, she showed her flow is for real.
Having spent several weeks at the top of the Billboard 100 before being dethroned this week by Post Malone‘s “Rock Star,” “Bodak Yellow” has become one of those ubiquitous hits, and seeing the theater full of New Yorkers grooving along with it made for a very cool visual. Still, all eyes were on Cardi in her bright pink, as she drove the power of the track home over the airwaves.
It’s been a big month for Cardi, having performed at the BET Hip-Hop Awards where she took home four honors, and yesterday signing a worldwide deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Fans wanting further Cardi late night dominance can catch her stealing the show from G-Eazy last month on Fallon.
