Chicago’s favorite son (and a strong candidate for the greatest American hero), Chance the Rapper is turning back to school season into “giving back to school season” with his press conference announcing that he’s raised $2.2 Million for his hometown’s schools.
Dressed in his best Steve Jobs (RIP) attire, Chance spoke of his youth empowerment charity, Social Works’ New Chance Fund, having raised the money for Chicago’s arts education.
Chance’s organization will be giving 20 schools $100,000 each over the next three years. As Chance put it, “Funding quality education for public [school] students is the most important investment a community can make.”
