In the latest achievement from my NYU roommate Donald Glover, his latest Childish Gambino video “This Is America” has just hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Released for just over a week (premiering during his hosting/musical guest double-duty on Saturday Night Live) “This Is America” is Donald’s first number one song, and also tops the streaming and digital sales charts.

Perhaps the biggest achievement of “This Is America” is how Glover has ended Drake‘s historic 15-week run at the top, with 11 weeks for “God’s Plan” immediately followed by four weeks of “Nice For What.” This also means the charts have been topped for 16 straight weeks by actors-turned-rappers.

Glover can be seen next starring in Solo, which opens in theaters May 25.

– In a rare controversial moment, Chance the Rapper declared Beyoncé’s Coachella performance was “better” than “any performance” by Michael Jackson.

SZA celebrated Mother’s Day by teasing her new video “Garden.”

– We now have one of our first posthumous Lil Peep singles in the Clams Casino-produced “4 Gold Chains.”

– After months of speculation, Joe Budden is officially getting a show on Diddy‘s Revolt.TV.
