This weekend’s Coachella festival was a landmark musical event, setting the bar exceptionally high for this year’s festival season. As if Beyoncé‘s Earth-shattering Saturday night performance wasn’t enough, Eminem‘s headlining set completely floored the festival with surprise guests, familiar jams and perhaps Em’s greatest live performance of all time.

The rumors persisted in the weeks leading up to the show that Em had been fine-tuning and relentlessly rehearsing his Coachella set. The rumors appear to be true as the Em we witnessed in the early hours this morning was more confident and dynamic on-stage than we’ve ever seen him.

The setlist leaned heavy on Em’s first three albums, both singles and deep cuts, with selections from last year’s Revival making their live debut. In addition to well-received special guest appearances from Skylar Grey and 50 Cent, the evening’s highlight came from the special appearance of Dr. Dre. Surfacing during the good doctor’s namedrop in “The Real Slim Shady,” Dre performed verses from “Still D.R.E.” and “California Love,” resulting in billions of goosebumps sprouting worldwide.

– My NYU roommate Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino will be both the host and the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on May 5.

The Hammer Museum in Los Angeles is home to Solange‘s new performance art piece Metatronia.

– After an induction from Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill covered Nina Simone at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

– More new Janelle Monaé is here as she raps on the latest Dirty Computer track “I Like That.”
