The new Eminem album, Revival, comes later this month, and the release of “Untouchable” makes us even more excited. If you thought Eminem’s anti-Trump freestyle in the BET Cypher last month was politically volatile, buckle up. “Untouchable” is a doozy.
Debuting along with Revival‘s cover art, which features depressed face-palming Eminem superimposed over an American flag, “Untouchable” is pulling no punches and leaving nothing open to interpretation. A scathing indictment of racial profiling, racial inequality and institutionalized racism, Em’s complex lyricism breaks down the injustices through every facet.
But it wouldn’t be an Eminem record without a little absurdity. If you’re like us and spent the first few minutes not being able to put your finger on where the sample comes from, our deep hip-hop braintrust have revealed it to be Cheech and Chong‘s ’80s novelty hit “Earache in My Eye.” Only Eminem could turn a comedy heavy metal parody into one of the year’s most powerful socially-conscious records.
– Christmas may be coming early as Post Malone has confirmed a Latin remix of “Rock Star” is on the way.
– Fellow fans of direct-to-video hip-hop hood flicks can rejoice as 21 Savage has announced his forthcoming film Issa Movie.
