Starting with “that’s an awfully hot coffee pot,” Eminem returned to the rap game with a blistering four-and-a-half minutes of politically potent provocation in the form of a show-stealing cypher performance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards.
Pulling no punches – or punchlines – Mr. Mathers had some less-than-flattering things to say about President Donald Trump. In a clip filmed in the rapper’s hometown of Detroit, Em expresses his displeasure for Trump’s policies and persona as only he can. Taking a cue from the rap battle world, Em goes without a beat for some syllable-stacking that’s become the most viral clip of the day.
Eminem and Trump have an interesting history. In 2004, Donald Trump appeared in person – no seriously – at an MTV promotional event for Em’s album Encore dubbed The Shady Convention to endorse the rapper for President. Trump also claimed to enjoy Eminem’s music in his 2004 autobiography Think Like a Billionaire.
Trump has yet to respond. Not even via Twitter.
