This February sees the highly anticipated release of the 2018’s first big comic book blockbuster Black Panther. The latest Marvel superhero film, our already-high excitement has reach even greater levels with news that its soundtrack is going to be produced by Kendrick Lamar. We’re serious.
We already have the first single in Kendrick’s new collaboration with SZA titled “All the Stars.” It’s Kendrick and SZA’s first release since their respective albums dominated last year’s best-of lists, and indicates their hot streak is going to continue into 2018.
Producing the soundtrack with Kendrick will be Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. Marvel’s Black Panther pounces into theaters on February 16. Kendrick performs next at the halftime of the National College Football championship game on January 8, and given the game is also supposed to feature a new Black Panther preview, we’re curious if more soundtrack details will be revealed here as well.
– Drake also blessed us with a preview of a new song, “God’s Plan,” perhaps hinting that angsty Drake is back, jack!
– Joey Bada$$ has confirmed a lot of new music is on the way, including an unreleased completed project from his late partner-in-rhyme Capital Steez.
– King of the rapping recap Skillz responded to Uncle Murda jacking his year-end rap-up with the year’s first great diss track, “Murda Gram.”
