Last night hip-hop icon Lauryn Hill played The Apollo, which would be a historic enough of an event, but then she tapped into her inner-Drake for this show-stopping remix of the Toronto rapper’s “Nice For What.”

But this isn’t the first OVOFugees connection to be made from the track. Drake built “Nice For What” off of a sample from Lauryn Hill’s 1998 hit “Ex-Factor” from her Grammy-winning landmark solo debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. That track itself samples The Wu-Tang Clan‘s 1993 classic “Can It Be All So Simple?” That’s three layers of hip-hop history on the track, and they’re all getting paid.

During the performance, Hill rhymed “He took the sample. My {deleted easily guessable explicit} a classic. Here’s an example.” While many, including producer Swizz Beatz who was in attendance for the performance, are hoping for an official collaboration, there’s been no word from either camp.
