When you call The Weeknd‘s name, it’s actually a pretty big prayer.
Hot off the heels of his My Dear Melancholy EP, he back with a new video that confirms his status as the terror that flaps in the night. “Call Out My Name” is a treat for the eyes, especially the nocturnal ones.
Directed by The Weeknd’s most frequent and trusted collaborator Grant Singer (“Starboy,” “Can’t Feel My Face“) it goes back-and-forth between both the most conventional and most abstract imagery he’s ever had in a clip. From a desolate urban sunset to the black-and-white performance footage to someone in a plague doctor’s mask, there’s a lot to unpack here.
My Dear Melancholy is available now and it feels like its story is just beginning.
