It’s always something special when Tyler, the Creator takes the television airwaves. Given his longtime history with Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon – it was Tyler’s 2011 Late Night performance with Fallon that put him on the mainstream map – his return performances have felt like something of a homecoming. “See You Again” is no exception.
Perhaps Tyler’s biggest crossover hit, “See You Again” is a welcoming, infectious jam and Tyler could have played it safe – but then he wouldn’t be “The Creator.” Donning pajamas and calling in an assist from Kali Uchis, Tyler rocked the track over a new lush arrangement from The Roots.
Seeing the former Odd Future frontman in front of a bevy of strings is still something of a surreal sight, but the maturation is real. Jimmy Fallon‘s post-performance proud papa handshake resulted in perhaps the biggest smile we’ve ever seen across his face.
