In a revelation that should surprise absolutely nobody who has paid attention to his band for more than 15 minutes, Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie has come out as pansexual in an interview with Paper magazine this week.
While astute followers of Urie’s personal life will no doubt note that the singer and songwriter has been very forthcoming about his fluid sexuality in past interviews, this interview marks the first time Urie has publicly declared his status as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community in the present tense.
If you’re confused about the difference between bisexuality and pansexuality, don’t worry! At the risk of oversimplifying to an extreme, pansexuality differs from bisexuality in that it explicitly allows for attraction to people outside of the male-female gender binary (for a much more detailed info, click here).
Brendon really puts it best himself in the Paper interview:
“Yeah I guess you could qualify me as pansexual because I really don’t care. If a person is great, then a person is great. I just like good people, if your heart’s in the right place. I’m definitely attracted to men. It’s just people that I am attracted to.”
Don’t get any ideas though, Brendon-stans. The singer has been happily married for 5 years now and doesn’t appear to be hitting the open market any time soon!
