Alright folks, get your acoustic guitars out and try really hard not to cry because The Plain White T’s memorable 2006 tearjerker “Hey There Delilah” might be getting made into a TV series!
According to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, PWT’s frontman and songwriter Tom Higgenson has teamed up with a production studio and a team of writers to develop the song’s saccharine story of long-distance romance into a full-length TV series, which they’ll be pitching to networks in the coming weeks.
Naturally, we have questions: Will the TV series be set in the swoopy-haircuts and guyliner era of 2006 emo? Will Delilah be more of a Betty from Riverdale or a Veronica? Which prominent NYC college will Delilah be a student at (Go 95.3’s Chaz Kangas: “The Bronx campus of Fordham University”)? What does she study? Is the song’s narrator a loveably sincere wannabe rockstar, or more of a Scott Pilgrim-esque sadsack?
Fingers crossed that this actually gets made so we can finally learn the answers we seek.
