Perhaps the most glorious thing about the promotional rollout for Jack White’s new album Boarding House Reach is simply getting to hang with the reclusive, prickly rocker and remembering how much fun he can be. After last week’s charming interview with Jimmy Fallon, Jack White showed off his comedic chops and incredible shredding abilities at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

While the sketch didn’t actually air live due to time constraints, White appeared in a hilarious bit with guest host John Mulaney involving a wedding toast, a bizarre polyamorous love triangle, a guitar solo, and Cecily Strong.

White also performed two ripping, full-band live versions of Boarding House Reach singles “Connected by Love,” and “Over and Over and Over.”

St. Vincent crushed it at Coachella with a one-of-a-kind live set and the debut of her new experimental film.

– British Post-punk legends Gang of Four have returned with a politically-charged new song.

Stereogum gave Lord Huron the in-depth profile treatment.

– Electropop duo Sofi Tukker talked influences and more with DIY.
