The 1975‘s Matty Healy paid a recent visit to the headquarters of lyrics-purveyors Genius to explain some of his inspiration while writing the band’s controversial new hit “Love It If We Made It,” and the results are typically profane and glorious.
The video starts out great, with a reference to our very own hometown hero Prince‘s seminal 1987 political masterpiece Sign O’ The Times, apparently the high watermark that Healy sought to attain when crafting “Love It.”
From there on in, Healy does NOT mince words, speaking plainly about police brutality, Black Lives Matter, his own battles with drug addiction and much, much more.
Also, HBD to Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers! Here’s a video of them performing at Chad Smith‘s kid’s school in Halloween costumes from last night.
