British alt superstars The 1975 have just shared another new track from their forthcoming A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships, and just like the first single “Give Yourself a Try,” the song should challenge fans’ expectations about The 1975’s sound.
Second single “Love it if we Made it” sees the band returning to slightly more familiar, ’80s-influenced musical territory, with shimmering synths and stomping Phil Collins drums. However, the new single could be the band’s most political to date, with pointed lyrics about police brutality, Trump, the opioid epidemic, and more.
Frontman and lyricist Matty Healy shared his own two cents about the songs’ content on Twitter.
"I'm saying a lot of individual things, but the fact of the matter is all of these things are nuclear." @Truman_Black breaks down the lyrics of @the1975's #LoveItIfWeMadeIt.https://t.co/9K07kRsgfi pic.twitter.com/IBS1lgofDQ
