Indie rockers Vampire Weekend had themselves an exciting weekend at Lollapalooza in Chicago over the last couple of days. In addition to starting their set with an epic troll job (playing “A Punk” three times in a row) and proceeding to get weirder from there (Covering the bass solo from Seinfeld???), the band also leaked a few of their new tunes at an exclusive aftershow.
While no video exists to prove it, plenty of fans that were able to attend the aftershow at Chicago’s The Metro agree that frontman Ezra Koenig climbed back onstage between the band’s main set and encore to show off four and a half new songs to the adoring audience by plugging his phone into an aux cord.
– Looks like Blink-182 will be getting the EDM treatment from superproducer Steve Aoki.
– Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park is taking his solo act on tour (woo!) but he won’t be stopping in Minneapolis (boo!).
– Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs gave some updates about her forthcoming solo work and the band’s future.
– Emo innovators The Get Up Kids have slated new music for early 2019.
