Considered among the all-time most treasured labels, America’s had a love affair with Motown. From Smokey Robinson to Marvin Gaye, very few labels have connected enough with listeners to be the namesake of their own style like “The Motown Sound.” Historic enough to have a long-running touring Broadway musical based on its music, they’ve added another star to their constellation as Vince Staples has officially signed to Motown.
Announced yesterday at Motown’s parent company Capital‘s annual Capital Congress, the usually outspoken Staples has yet to comment on the move but did have this worthwhile tweet a few days prior:
Y’all ever been in church and the preacher say god told him somebody got a 100 dollar gift?
