Friday night, Run the Jewels stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform two tracks in front of the California sunset. While the duo’s signature energy was visable, there was something of a somber vibe in the air as the performance was filmed mere hours after the news broke of Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington‘s suicide.
Dedicating the Joi-assisted “Down” off of their latest album RTJ3, it was an emotional and cathartic moment. While not quite as poignant, America’s favorite Jewel Runners were joined by Trina for a broadcast-ready speaker-melting rendition of “Panther Like a Panther.”
It began a busy weekend for the boys as El-P celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of his original group Company Flow‘s debut Funcrusher Plus with Run the Jewels’ biggest headlining club show ever, selling 6,500 tickets in San Francisco.
