Few things are as comforting and energizing as witnessing the full Wu-Tang Clan in formation. It’s a rare sight, as they’ve all be busy lately between RZA‘s Chipotle endorsement, Method Man starring in three television series this year alone, and Ghostface feuding with disgraced Pharma-bro Martin Shkreli.
Given that most of 2017’s Wu-discussions have circled around the potential fate – and legitimacy – of Shkreli’s million-dollar Once Upon a Time in Shaolin album, the fact that we have a wholly new unrelated modern Wu track to satiate us is downright inspiring. We can now see the group as well, in this new clip for “People Say.”
What’s great about the video is the group’s willing return to the mysterious Wu-allure. Dimly-lit members spit their verses in-between a semi-narrative featuring a box ‘o’ Wu being brought to a sword-wielding femme fatale in the alley. The focus is on both the lyrics, and just how cool this shadowy Staten Island once was before the overexposed age of social media.
According to RZA, “People Say” will be found on the new Wu album Wu-Tang: The Saga Continues, due out October 13.
