It was 20 years ago today that The White Stripes‘ landmark debut album hit store shelves. A rite of passage cult classic that’s crossed generations, today frontman Jack White marked the occasion by releasing a new collection of unheard White Stripes music from the era titled The White Stripes XX.
The new release, touted a “companion piece,” contains the album’s unheard outtakes, an entire 1999 North Carolina performance, a DVD with two Detroit shows from the era and a 24-page archival book.
The White Stripes XX is available through the Third Man Records’ subscription service. Here’s a taste of a previously unheard song, “Little Red Book.”
